Raid Farm — Totems of Undying & Emeralds on DonutSMP

Raid farms are one of the most rewarding farms in Minecraft. By triggering raids repeatedly, you get Totems of Undying, Emeralds, Iron, enchanted items, and more — all automatically.

Materials Needed

  • A Pillager Outpost (for Bad Omen)
  • A village or artificial village
  • Building/redstone materials
  • Water and lava (kill system)
  • Hoppers and chests
  • Lots of blocks for elevated platform

1. How Raids Work

When a player with the Bad Omen effect enters a village (area with beds + villagers), a Raid triggers. Waves of hostile mobs (Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, Ravagers, Witches) attack in 5-7 waves.

Evokers drop Totems of Undying. All raiders can drop emeralds, gear, and other items. Completing the raid grants Hero of the Village (trade discounts).

A Raid farm automates this: get Bad Omen, trigger raid, kill all raiders, repeat.

2. Getting Bad Omen

Kill a Raid Captain (Pillager/Vindicator with a banner on their head) at a Pillager Outpost. This gives Bad Omen I. For a farm, set up a small grinder near a Pillager Outpost:

1. Build a platform at the top of the outpost 2. Pillagers continuously spawn and walk off the platform 3. Fall damage or a kill mechanism finishes them 4. Walk into the beam occasionally to collect Bad Omen from fallen Captains

3. Building the Raid Farm

Core design: 1. Build an elevated platform (Y=200+) with a small village on top (beds + one Villager) 2. When a raid triggers, raiders spawn on the platform 3. Water or bubble columns funnel them into a kill chamber 4. Kill them with fall damage, lava, entity cramming, or manual hits 5. Collect drops with hoppers

Elevated builds work best because raiders have limited spawning space, concentrating them onto your platform.

4. Kill Chamber Design

The kill chamber needs to handle all raid mob types: - **Pillagers & Vindicators**: Standard humanoid mobs, 24-block fall kills them - **Evokers**: Same as above, but their Totems must drop where hoppers can collect - **Ravagers**: Very high HP (100) — need extra damage or suffocation - **Witches**: Self-heal, need lethal burst damage or drowning

A drowning trap or suffocation chamber handles all mobs equally. Alternatively, use trident killers (thrown tridents in a water stream powered by pistons) for player-kill drops and XP.

5. Automation Tips

- Use a repeating cycle: get Bad Omen from outpost → enter village → kill wave → repeat - Trident killers give Looting III drops automatically - Separate collection for Totems vs other drops using a hopper sorter - Hero of the Village buff from completing raids stacks well with cured Villager trades - This farm pairs excellently with a Villager Trading Hall for maximum economy
